Proposed By-laws change

A motion was made at The Monday Night Steering Committee Meeting (July 12, 2021) to do a bylaws change and add the Zoom Coordinator Position to the Executive Board.

There are differences in opinions about this:

PROS: The executive board felt during the lockdown due to COVID, they were within their rights to add a new position to the Executive Board. Doing this allowed for more group cohesiveness which was needed and important to do at that time. Having a 5th person on the committee made it possible to keep things functioning, given the absence of a functioning Steering Committee.

CONS: Others have suggested they were not in their rights to add this position. Rather the Executive Board as defined in the bylaws as Chair, Co-chair, Secretary and Treasurer. Any change to its structure would require an amendment to the bylaws and a vote from the Steering Committee.  However, they would have been within their right to add a Zoom Coordinate Position to the Regular Sub-Committee (alongside Intergroup representative, GSR etc.) and at a later date put forth to the Steering committee a request for a bylaws change allowing for the creation of the Zoom Coordinator to the Executive Board.

Going forward: Should we put the Zoom coordinator on the Executive committee or not.

PLEASE HOLD A GROUP CONCSIOUS WITH YOUR MEETING AND BRING THE RECULTS BACK TO THE STEEING COMMITTEE NEXT MONTH FOR A VOTE.
